M R Butts was born & raised in Hawaii in an artistic family, which heavily influenced his love for art.

This love for art began in childhood by drawing & painting often which led to multiple creative works by using acrylic, pastels & oils.  Oil became his medium of choice as it allowed fluid movement & a flow of ideas. 

Michael has perfected his own recipe in creating small batches of medium in the way of the old masters from the Renaissance.  

This artist uses a pallet knife which created texture & movement, capturing the essence of feeling & depth of expression. 

Michael draws inspiration from his travels across the world which las led to many landscapes as well as whimsical metaphors using dynamic colors, shapes & lines.
